How to get Keeplet notifications on iPhone
On iPhone, push notifications from the Keeplet website only work if you open keeplet.app in Safari, add it to your Home Screen, and then turn on notifications from the icon it creates. From a regular browser tab, and from other browsers such as Chrome or Firefox, it is not possible.
Before you start
- You need a Keeplet account and you must be signed in.
- Use Safari. If you open the website in another browser on iPhone, Settings › Notifications shows the warning "On iPhone, notifications only work with Safari. Open this site in Safari and add it to your Home Screen."
- Web notifications on iPhone require a recent version of iOS (16.4 or later). This requirement comes from Apple, not from the website: if your version is older, update it.
Steps
- Open keeplet.app in Safari and sign in to your account.
- Tap the share icon (the square with an arrow pointing up) in the Safari bar.
- Choose Add to Home Screen and confirm.
- Close Safari and open Keeplet from the new icon on your Home Screen, not from Safari.
- Go to Settings › Notifications: tap Profile in the bottom bar, then choose the Notifications section.
- Turn on the Push notifications switch (or press Enable if the warning appears) and tap Allow when iOS asks for permission.
- Choose how to receive alerts from the When to notify you row: see Email reminders and push notifications in Keeplet.
What do I see if I have not installed the website yet?
If you open Keeplet in Safari without having added it to your Home Screen, a window titled "Install the app for notifications" appears, and Settings › Notifications shows a warning reminding you to tap the share icon and choose Add to Home Screen. In that situation the Push notifications switch is not available.
If you have already added the website to your Home Screen but the window is still open, press Done, enable notifications: if Keeplet does not detect the installation, it tells you "The app doesn't appear to be installed yet. Try again after adding it to your Home Screen." In that case open Keeplet from the Home Screen icon and repeat from step 5. With Not now the window comes back after 3 days.
What if I refused permission?
If you tap Don't Allow, Settings › Notifications shows "Notification permission denied. Enable it from browser settings." On iPhone, turn it back on from the iOS Settings app, under Notifications, by finding Keeplet among the installed apps. Then return to Keeplet and turn the switch on again.
Frequently asked questions

Yes. The Email reminders switch does not depend on the browser and also works on iPhone without installing the website.
Is there an alternative to the website notifications?
Yes: the Keeplet app for iPhone has a local reminder at a time you choose. Read How to set a review reminder in the app.
How do I install the website as an app?
The full procedure, also for Android and computers, is in How to install Keeplet as an app from your browser.
