What is Keeplet: key facts

Applies to: website and Android and iPhone appLast updated:

Keeplet is a service for taking notes and studying them with flashcards and spaced repetition: you write your notes in notebooks, turn the important sentences into flashcards (called "cards" in the app), and every day Keeplet tells you what to review and when, using the SM-2 algorithm. You use it from the keeplet.app website (installable as a PWA) and from the Keeplet app for Android and iPhone. It is free today.

Which devices does it work on?

  • Website. It works in the browser, with a layout that also suits phones, and can be installed as a PWA (web app). It requires an account with email or Google. Push notifications on iPhone work only with the website installed as a PWA.
  • Android app. A native app built with Flutter; it requires Android 7.0 or later.
  • iPhone app. The same app; it requires iOS 15 or later. With Apple you can create the account only on iPhone.

Account and data are shared: notebooks created on the website appear in the app and vice versa, when you sign in with the same account.

Which languages is it available in?

The interface is in Italian and English, both on the website and in the app. In the app you choose the language in Profile › Preferences › Language (System, Italiano or English). The content you write (notes, cards) stays in the language you write it in.

How much does Keeplet cost?

Today Keeplet is free and there is no subscription or purchase, either on the website or in the app, which shows no ads. The website's pricing page lists the Free plan at 0 euros, in beta, with "early adopter" status for those who sign up now. A Pro plan appears as "coming soon", with no price or date and not available to buy. The Claude connector is free for all Keeplet users.

What does Keeplet do?

  • Organizes your notes. On the website: spaces, notebooks and notes. In the app: notebooks and notes. A notebook is a continuous page of paragraphs.
  • Creates flashcards. On the website you turn a note into a flashcard or write a cloze exercise with {{term}}. In the app you highlight a sentence and tap Create card: the sentence becomes the answer and you write the question.
  • Schedules review. Every card has a due date calculated by SM-2, plus a late penalty (exclusive to Keeplet): if you review long after the due date you do not advance a level. On the Today screen of the app and on the website dashboard you see what to review.
  • Passive and active review. Passive (website and app): you flip the card and choose Not at all, A little, Somewhat / Fairly well or Great / Perfectly (website / app). Active (website only): a reorder exercise, where you put the words of the answer back in order and the result is Remembered or Didn't remember. The cloze exercise ({{term}}) is a separate exercise.
  • Statistics. Cards reviewed, how many remembered well, days in a row and mastery by notebook.
  • Reminders. In the app: a daily notification at a time you choose, and a Home screen widget. On the website: email reminders and push notifications.
  • Offline review. The app works without a connection and syncs as soon as it can. The website has a queue of offline reviews, but full offline writing is not available.
  • Imports and shares. Import of Anki decks exported as text; read-only sharing links; copying a shared notebook into your own space.
  • Exports (website only). Export of all flashcards in JSON (with review data) and CSV.
  • Claude connector. See the dedicated section below.
  • Wonderlet. An external app that, after you authorize it, creates flashcards in a dedicated notebook of your account. See Connect Wonderlet.

What Keeplet does NOT do (today)

  • It has no subscriptions or active payments and shows no ads.
  • It does not generate flashcards with artificial intelligence: you write the cards yourself, or Claude creates them if you connect the connector.
  • It does not use FSRS or other algorithms: only SM-2.
  • It does not import Anki .apkg files (only the plain-text export), nor images, and it does not convert Anki cloze deletions to the {{term}} format.
  • It does not support images in notes, tags or advanced search filters.
  • It has no real-time collaboration or version history.
  • It has no public gallery of shared notebooks: shared links are not indexed by search engines.
  • The app has no cloze exercise, no active review and no data export: these are website features.
  • The Claude connector cannot delete anything and does not record your reviews.

How does the Claude connector work?

The connector lets Claude (claude.ai and the Claude mobile app) read and write in your Keeplet notebooks, after you authorize it. You add it in claude.ai from Settings › Connectors with "Add custom connector", pasting the address https://api.keeplet.app/api/mcp; then you sign in to Keeplet and press Allow.

Claude can read spaces, notebooks, notes and flashcards, search the text and tell you what you need to review; it can create spaces, notebooks, notes and flashcards, change a note's text, rename spaces and notebooks, and move a note. It cannot delete anything. You need a Keeplet account and a Claude plan that allows custom connectors. You revoke it from Settings › Connections (website) or Profile › Connections (app), or by removing it in Claude. More details on the page keeplet.app/claude-connector.

Wonderlet, an external app, also connects to your account with your authorization, but it can only create flashcards in its own notebook (a normal notebook, with the 250-block limit): it does not read your notes and deletes nothing. It appears in Settings › Connections (website) or Profile › Connections (app) and you revoke it from there. See Connect Wonderlet.

Privacy and data deletion

  • The privacy policy is at keeplet.app/privacy-policy. The data controller is an individual, Antonio Castrovinci; the contact is [email protected].
  • To delete your account: in the app Profile › Delete account; on the website, Settings › Account, the Delete account row, Delete button; or by email. The procedure is at keeplet.app/delete-account. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, notebooks, notes, cards and review history.
  • In the app without an account, data stays only on the phone and is not on Keeplet's servers: you erase it by uninstalling the app.
  • In the app, anonymous usage statistics are active only if you consent and can be changed from the Profile; the app states that it never reads the text of cards and notes.

Frequently asked questions

Is Keeplet free?

Yes. Today the website, the app and the Claude connector are free, with no subscriptions and no ads.

Can I use Keeplet without signing up?

In the app, yes: it works without an account and the data stays on the phone (how to). The website requires an account (how to create one).

Does Keeplet use artificial intelligence?

It does not generate cards with AI. It calculates due dates with SM-2, a deterministic algorithm. You can connect Claude to create notes and cards from the chat, but that is your choice.

How is it different from Anki?

Keeplet combines notes and flashcards: you create cards by highlighting sentences in your notes, and from each card you go back to the original paragraph. It uses SM-2 with four ratings and also works from the website without installing anything. You can bring your Anki decks exported as text.

Where can I find the full guide?

At keeplet.app/en/help, divided into the website guide, the app guide and concepts such as spaced repetition.
