How to undo a rating during review
In the Keeplet app for Android and iPhone you can undo your last rating by tapping Undo in the message that appears at the bottom just after you rate a card: you have 3 seconds. You go back to the same card, already flipped, and pick another rating. On the last card of the session there is no undo.
Before you start
You need a review session in progress: see Review your cards every day. The rating is one of four: Not at all, A little, Fairly well, Perfectly (Rate a card).
Steps
- After flipping the card, tap your rating. You move straight to the next card.
- A message appears at the bottom with the rating you just gave, for example "Rated: Fairly well", and an Undo button.
- Tap Undo within 3 seconds.
- You see the previous card again, with the answer already showing and the four ratings. Choose the right one.
What really happens when I undo?
For 3 seconds the rating is only "pending": the next card appears right away, but the app has not written anything to the database yet. With Undo the rating is simply discarded, so the card's schedule, the day's count and your statistics do not change. If you have an account, an undone rating is not even sent to the server. Even an undone Not at all does not put the card back in the queue: everything returns to how it was before the rating.
When does a rating become final?
The rating is written to your phone at whichever of these moments comes first:
- 3 seconds pass without you tapping Undo;
- you rate the next card (the new message replaces the previous one, so you can only undo the latest rating);
- you tap the X Close the review;
- you finish the session.
From then on there is no way to change the rating. The card comes back when scheduled, and the rating counts in your statistics.
Why don't I see Undo on the last card?
Because after the last rating the session ends and the Review finished screen opens right away, which has nothing to undo. If you got the last rating wrong, the only correction is to review the card again when it is due.
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo a rating after a few minutes?
No. The window is 3 seconds and it cannot be changed. After that you can fix the card's text with the Edit card pencil, but not the rating.
I made a mistake and tapped Not at all: what happens to the card?
If you do not undo, the card goes to the end of the session and its count of successful reviews starts again from zero. If you close before seeing it again, it comes back tomorrow. See Rate a card.
