How to read your statistics in the Keeplet app

Applies to: Android and iPhone appLast updated:

In the Keeplet app for Android and iPhone the Statistics tab tells you how many cards you reviewed, how many you remembered well, how many days in a row you've reviewed and how far along you are with each notebook. Everything is calculated on your phone, so it works without an account and without a connection.

Before you start

Statistics appear after your first rating. Before that, the tab says "No reviews yet." and the Do your first review button takes you to the review; if you don't have a single card, it says "You don't have any notes to review yet." with Write a note.

Steps

  1. Tap Statistics in the bar at the bottom.
  2. At the top, choose the period: 7 days, 30 days or All time. It opens on 7 days.
  3. Read the summary sentence, for example "In 7 days you reviewed 12 cards and remembered 9 of 12 well." With All time it starts with "In total".
  4. Below you find three tiles, the daily chart and the card progress, explained below.

What do the three tiles say?

Tile What it counts
cards reviewed How many ratings you gave in the period. Below it, if you don't choose All time and the previous period had reviews, the comparison: "3 more than the week before", "2 fewer than the month before" or "Same as the week before"
remembered well The percentage of Fairly well or Perfectly ratings out of the total for the period. It doesn't appear if you reviewed nothing in the period
Days in a row The consecutive days with at least one review. If you haven't reviewed yet today it counts up to yesterday; the streak breaks if you gave no rating today or yesterday. It doesn't depend on the chosen period

"Cards reviewed" counts every rating, so a card you answer Not at all and see again in the same session counts twice. That's why it can be higher than the "You reviewed 12 cards." at the end of a session, which counts distinct cards.

How do I read the chart?

The "Cards reviewed each day" chart has one bar per day: the last 7 days or the last 30 (also with All time). Below it you see the date of the first day and "today". To read the exact numbers, tap View as table: a list appears with Day and Cards reviewed, most recent first. Hide the table closes it.

What do "new", "learning" and "learned" mean?

Under "Where you stand with your N cards" a bar splits your cards into three groups, with this legend:

Group How the app calculates it
new ("never reviewed") Zero successful reviews in a row
learning ("you are still fixing them") You've already rated it but the card isn't learned yet
learned ("they only come back now and then") More than 10 successful reviews in a row and an ease factor of at least 2.5

The screen sums up the rule with "Learned: more than 10 successful reviews in a row and ease of at least 2.5." A Not at all rating resets the run of successful reviews. These are three groups, not the five levels described in Card mastery levels in Keeplet.

How do I read the "By notebook" section?

Every notebook with at least one card has a row with a small bar and a sentence like "12 of 24 learned, 2 to review today" (or "nothing to review"). Notebooks are listed from least to most learned. "To review today" counts cards never reviewed and cards due by today, without the daily goal cap.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a card I've already reviewed count as "new"?

Because the last rating was Not at all: the counter of successful reviews went back to zero, and the new group is based on that counter, not on whether you've seen the card.

Are my statistics saved to my account?

No. The rating history lives only on your phone and isn't sent to the server. If you sign out or sign in on another phone, the history starts from zero, while cards keep their review state. At the bottom of the screen, when some cards were reviewed before the history began, you see "Counted from October 5. Reviews done before that have no history." The website's statistics are calculated by the server: see How to read your statistics in Keeplet.

What happens to ratings I undo?

A rating undone within 3 seconds is never written, so it doesn't count. See How to undo a rating during review.

Why did my days in a row drop to zero?

Because you gave no rating today or yesterday. A single rating, even Not at all, restarts the streak at 1.
