How to share a notebook with a link in Keeplet
On the Keeplet website you share a notebook by creating a public read-only link: open the notebook, click Share, then Create link. The link is valid for 7 days and you can revoke it at any time with Revoke link; whoever receives it sees the notebook without needing an account.
Before you start
You must be the owner of the notebook. Anyone who opens the link sees the notebook's blocks, meaning notes and flashcards with their answers: do not share notebooks that contain private information. They do not see your name or your other notebooks.
Steps
- Open the notebook you want to share.
- In the header, to the right of the view selectors, click the Share icon (the label appears when you hover over it with the mouse). The icon does not appear while you are selecting multiple blocks.
- The Share notebook window opens. Click Create link.
- Click Copy next to the Share link: "Link copied" appears.
- Send the link to whoever you want. It looks like
keeplet.app/shared/….
What does the person who receives the link see?
A public page with the notebook name, the number of blocks ("N blocks · shared notebook") and all the content in read-only form. Flashcards show question and answer. The page is not indexed by search engines. Anyone with an account can copy the notebook to their own space: see Copy a shared notebook. On a phone the page also offers Open in the app.
The link always shows the current version of the notebook: if you edit the notebook while the link is active, whoever opens it sees the changes.
How long is the link valid?
For 7 days from creation. The window shows the date as "Expires on …". While the link is active you cannot extend it: the expiry stays the original one. When it expires, the link stops working and whoever opens it sees "Notebook not found – The link is invalid, expired or has been revoked." To share again, reopen Share and click Create link: you get a new address.
How do I revoke the link?
- Reopen the Share notebook window of the same notebook.
- Click Revoke link. "Link revoked" appears.
The old address stops working immediately. Links are also deleted if you delete your account.
Frequently asked questions
Can the person who gets the link edit my notebook?
No. The link is read-only: whoever opens it can only look, or make their own copy, and the copy does not change your original.
Does the recipient need a Keeplet account?
Not to look at it. To copy the notebook to their own space, yes: if they do not have an account they are taken to sign-up and then return to the shared page.
Can I have more than one link for the same notebook?
No, a notebook has only one active link at a time.
Can I share a whole space?
No, sharing applies to a single notebook.
