How to delete your account in the Keeplet app
In the Keeplet app for Android and iPhone you delete your account from the Profile: in the Account section tap Delete account and confirm with Delete forever. The account and its linked data are erased from the server right away, including for the website, and the operation cannot be undone.
Before you start
- You need an account. If you use the app without an account, there is nothing to delete on the server (see below). The Account section of the Profile only appears after you sign in.
- You need a connection. Deletion happens on the server: offline the app answers "You need a connection to continue." and deletes nothing.
- It is not signing out. Sign out (in the same section) only disconnects this phone from the account: your data stays on the server and you get it back by signing in again.
- If you want to keep something, export your data from the Keeplet website before deleting: the app has no export.
Steps
- Open the Profile tab.
- Scroll to the Account section.
- Tap Delete account (the row is red).
- Read the warning: "Delete your account? We permanently delete your account, notebooks, notes and cards, including on the website. This can't be undone."
- Tap Delete forever. To back out, tap Cancel.
If your session has expired, the Account section is not there: first tap Sign in again in the Profile, then follow the steps.
What gets deleted?
On the server the following are permanently deleted, in a single operation:
- the profile (name, email and photo, if present);
- notebooks, notes and cards, with the review history and the scheduled review data;
- the notebooks' sharing links;
- connected apps, such as Claude, and notifications;
- the account settings and the notification tokens.
If something goes wrong, the operation does not delete anything halfway: either everything is deleted, or nothing is.
On the phone, the app also removes notebooks, notes, cards and review history, and goes back to how it was at first launch. Your daily goal, reminder and theme remain.
What happens on other devices?
Other phones, or the website, using the same account notice the deletion at the next sync. On another phone "Account deleted" appears: if there were no changes waiting, the data is removed; if there were changes not yet sent, they stay on the phone as data without an account, and you can create a new account so you don't lose them.
Can I delete my account without opening the app?
Yes. Write to [email protected] from the email address of the account, with the subject "Account deletion": the account and its linked data are deleted within 30 days and you receive a reply once it is done. You will find the same procedure on the website's /delete-account page and in How to delete your Keeplet account.
Frequently asked questions
If I use the app without an account, how do I delete my data?
Without an account your data is not on Keeplet's servers: it stays only on your phone. To delete it, just uninstall the app.
Does uninstalling the app also delete the account?
No. Uninstalling removes the data from the phone, but the account and the data on the server remain until you delete them with Delete account or by email.
Can I recover my account after deleting it?
No. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You can create a new account, even with the same email, but you will start from zero.
Does deletion also erase my data on the website?
Yes. Account, notebooks, notes and cards are the same in the app and on the website, so they disappear from both.
