How to search notes and flashcards in Keeplet
On the Keeplet website you search notes and flashcards with the Search page. Open it from anywhere in your personal area with Ctrl+K (⌘K on Mac), or from Search in the left-hand menu. Type a word and Keeplet lists the blocks that contain it, with the space and notebook they belong to.
Steps
- Press Ctrl+K (⌘K), or click Search in the menu. The cursor is already in the "Search notes and cards" field.
- Type the word or phrase. After a short pause the results appear and the field shows the count, for example "12 results".
- To narrow the list, use the All / Notes / Cards selector.
- Open a result with a click, or move through the list with ↓ and ↑ and press Enter. The notebook opens and the page scrolls to the block that was found.
Each result shows the start of the text with your search word highlighted, the type ("Note" or "Card") and the path "Space / Notebook".
How do I search from my phone?
There is no Search item in the bottom bar. Open the Notebooks tab and tap the magnifying glass at the top: it opens the same Search page.
What does Keeplet search?
Search looks in the text of your notes and in the question and answer of your flashcards. It ignores uppercase, lowercase and accents ("cafe" finds "café"), and it also matches parts of words: "cell" finds "cellular". If you type several words, it searches for them as a whole phrase, in the order you typed them.
What it does not search:
- the names of spaces and notebooks: for those, use the "Search your spaces..." field on the Your spaces page and "Search notebooks..." inside a space;
- deleted blocks.
Results are capped at 50, newest first. If the word is very common, type a more precise phrase to narrow the list.
What if I find nothing?
Keeplet shows "No results for" followed by what you typed, with a hint to check the spelling or try a shorter word. A card that was found through its answer appears with its question.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when I open a result?
The notebook opens, the page scrolls to the block that was found and highlights it for a couple of seconds.
Can I search only among flashcards?
Yes: after typing, choose Cards in the selector. With Notes you see only notes. The filter works on results that were already found.
Is there a minimum number of letters?
No. Even a single letter starts the search, but with words that short there are many results and you see at most 50.
Where do I search in the app for Android and iPhone?
The app has its own search, with different rules: read Search in the app.
