# Profile, theme and language in Keeplet

On the Keeplet website, profile, theme and language live in **Settings**: your first name, last name, phone and photo in the **Profile** section (where you also see your email, which cannot be edited), and the interface theme and language in the **Preferences** section. Changes apply immediately.

## How do I open the settings?

On a computer click **Settings** at the bottom of the left menu. On a phone open the **Profile** tab in the bottom bar. The page has seven sections: **Profile**, **Preferences**, **Notifications**, **Data**, **Connections**, **About** and **Account**. On a wide screen you find them in an index on the left; on a phone in a selection bar at the top.

## Steps to change your first name, last name or phone

1. In **Profile** press the row you want to change: **First name**, **Last name** or **Phone**. If there is no phone yet, the row says "Add".
2. In the window type the new value. First name and last name are required; the phone is optional.
3. Press **Save** (or Enter). "Data updated successfully." appears.

The **Email** row shows the address you sign in with but does not open and cannot be edited: see the question "Can I change my email from the profile?" below. After saving, first name, last name and phone stay visible without reloading the page.

## How do I change my photo?

Press **Change photo** and choose an image from your device. Keeplet shrinks it by itself (256 px at most) and "Profile photo updated" appears. If something goes wrong you see "Error updating profile photo".

## How do I change the theme?

In **Preferences**, on the **Theme** row, choose one of three options:

- **Light**: always a light background;
- **Dark**: always a dark background;
- **System**: follows the theme of your computer or phone and changes by itself even while Keeplet is open.

The theme applies to the whole website instantly and stays as it is even after reloading the page or reopening Keeplet, **System** included. The choice is saved in the browser you are using, not in your account: on another device or browser you have to set it again.

## How do I change the language?

On the **Language** row choose **Italiano** or **English**. The interface changes immediately, the preference is saved in your account and "Data updated successfully." appears. The language only changes Keeplet's texts: your notes and flashcards stay as you wrote them. When you sign in on another device with the same account, the website uses the saved language. Keeplet's emails (review reminders, password reset and password changed) and push notifications also arrive in that language.

Only Italian and English are available.

## What about the daily goal?

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I change my email from the profile?

No. The **Email** row shows the address you sign in with, but it is read-only: it does not open and cannot be changed from the website. The account address stays the one from sign-up. If you can no longer sign in with your address, read [Can't sign in or forgot your password](/en/help/web/sign-in-and-password-problems).

### Why is my last name split the wrong way?

Keeplet stores first name and last name as a single full name: the first word is the first name and everything else is the last name. If you have two first names, for example "Anna Maria Rossi", the second name ends up in the last name.

### Do the theme and language also apply in the app for Android and iPhone?

### How do I change my password?

You cannot change it from the **Settings** page. If you have forgotten it, use **Forgot password** on the sign-in screen: [Can't sign in or forgot your password](/en/help/web/sign-in-and-password-problems).
