# How to move notes and flashcards to another notebook

Applies to: website · Last updated: 2026-10-29

On the Keeplet website you move a note or a flashcard to another notebook from the block menu: click the handle on the left, choose **Move to another notebook…**, select the destination and press **Move to** followed by the notebook name. The destination notebook can be in any of your spaces.

## Before you start

You need at least two notebooks. The block must already be saved: if you have just written it, wait for "Saved at" at the top, otherwise you see "Wait until the text is saved, then move it". The destination notebook must have room: a notebook holds at most 250 blocks, notes and flashcards combined.

## Steps

1. Open the notebook and click the six-dot handle to the left of the block. On a phone a tap on the handle is enough.
2. In the menu choose **Move to another notebook…**.
3. In the **Move to another notebook** window choose the destination. Each row shows the cover, the notebook name and the space with the number of cards, for example "Books, 17 cards", or "Books, notes only".
4. Press **Move to** followed by the chosen name. Until you choose a notebook the button stays **Move** and is not active.
5. The message "Moved to" with the notebook name appears and the block disappears from the starting notebook.

## What happens to the flashcards I move?

The window says it clearly: "A card keeps its review schedule". The due date and progress do not change, only the notebook that contains the card. Keeplet does not put it at a specific spot in the new notebook: if it does not appear where you want, reorder it by dragging the handle or with Alt+↑ and Alt+↓.

## How do I move several blocks together?

From the handle menu choose **Select**, tick the blocks and press **Move** in the bottom bar: the same window opens, with the sentence "Only the chosen items move". The detail is in [How to select and edit multiple blocks at once](/en/help/web/select-and-edit-multiple-blocks).

## What if the destination notebook is full?

A notebook with 250 items appears in the list in grey, with the text "Full: 250 items out of 250", and cannot be chosen. If the destination has room for only some of the blocks you are moving, Keeplet moves them one at a time until there is space: when the limit is reached the warning "You have reached the maximum of 250 blocks per notebook" appears, the blocks not moved go back to their place and those already moved stay in the destination. The complete limits are in [Keeplet limits and supported formats](/en/help/web/limits-and-formats).

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I drag a block into another notebook?

No. Dragging the handle only reorders blocks within the same notebook. To change notebook use **Move to another notebook…**.

### Can I move a whole notebook to another space?

The website has no command for that. You can create a new notebook in the space you want and move the blocks into it, all together after selecting them with Ctrl+A. To create the notebook see [How to create a notebook in Keeplet](/en/help/web/create-a-notebook).

### Why don't I see any notebook in the list?

If you have only one notebook, the window shows "You have no other notebook to move to." The notebook you are in does not appear among the destinations.

### Does moving a card erase its statistics?

No: the card keeps its due date and review schedule. Turning a card into a note is different, an operation for which Keeplet warns you that the statistics will be lost: see [How to turn a flashcard back into a note](/en/help/web/turn-a-flashcard-back-into-a-note).
