# How to copy a shared notebook into your space

Applies to: website · Last updated: 2026-10-29

On the Keeplet website you copy a notebook that someone shared with you by opening the link and clicking **Copy to my space**: choose the destination space, confirm with **Copy**, and the notebook becomes your own editable copy. Flashcards start again from zero and blocks that exceed the limits are skipped.

## Before you start

You need a Keeplet account. If you don't have one you can still open and read the link; when you click **Copy to my space**, Keeplet takes you to sign-up and, after you sign in, brings you back to the same page (see [How to create a Keeplet account](/en/help/web/create-a-keeplet-account)).

## Steps

1. Open the `keeplet.app/shared/…` link you received.
2. Click **Copy to my space**.
3. If you are not signed in yet, sign in or sign up: the page then reopens.
4. In the **Choose a space** window, select where to create the notebook (your default space is already selected).
5. Click **Copy**.
6. "Notebook "…" copied to your space" appears and Keeplet opens your copy.

## What happens to the copy?

The copy is a new, independent notebook with the same name as the original. You can edit it, move notes and study it like any other notebook of yours. Flashcards start again from zero, without the reviews of the person who shared it. The copy is a snapshot: if the author changes their notebook afterwards, your copy does not change.

## Why were some blocks not copied?

After copying you may see the message "N blocks were not copied because they exceed your plan limits". This happens when a block has text over 1000 characters, or when the notebook has more than 250 blocks: Keeplet copies the blocks that respect the limits and skips the others. See [Limits and formats](/en/help/web/limits-and-formats).

## Why don't I see the Copy to my space button?

On the shared page a notice appears in its place in two cases:

- **You shared this notebook, so you can't copy it**: the notebook is yours and there is no need to copy it.
- **You have already copied this notebook**: each shared notebook can be copied only once per account.

## Frequently asked questions

### The link says "Notebook not found". What do I do?

The link is invalid, has expired (it lasts 7 days) or has been revoked. Ask whoever sent it to create a new one.

### Can I copy the notebook from my phone?

Yes: the page also works in your phone's browser. If you have the Keeplet app, the **Open in the app** button opens the shared notebook in the app: read [Add a shared notebook in the app](/en/help/app/add-a-shared-notebook).

### Does the copy count towards my limits?

Yes, it is a normal notebook: it has the same limits as your others, for example 250 blocks.
