# See cards in your notes and in the Cards list

Applies to: Android and iPhone app · Last updated: 2026-10-29

In the Keeplet app for Android and iPhone you see cards in two ways: in a notebook's **Notes** view, as boxes with question and answer under the paragraph they come from (the sentence is highlighted), and in the **Cards** view, as a list. During review, **See in the note** shows the source paragraph again.

## Before you start

It applies to all notebooks, with or without an account. To create cards, see [How to create a card by highlighting text](/en/help/app/create-a-card-by-highlighting) or [How to create a card with the + button](/en/help/app/create-a-card-with-the-plus-button).

## Steps

1. Open a notebook from the **Notebooks** tab.
2. At the top, the selector has two options: **Notes** and **Cards** (next to **Cards** is the number of cards in the notebook). Tap one.
3. In the **Notes** view scroll the page: each card is a grey box with the label, the question, a dashed line and the answer.
4. In the **Cards** view you see one row per card, with the question and the answer underneath.
5. Tap a card, in either view, to open **Edit card**: you change **Question** and **Answer** and tap **Save**, or you tap **Delete card**.

## What do I see in a card's box?

The label at the top says **Card, due today** if the card is due (or has never been reviewed) and simply **Card** otherwise. A card without a question shows only the dashed line and the answer.

The box has its own handle (**Card actions**) with **Edit**, **Turn into note**, **Select**, **Move up**, **Move down**, **Move to another notebook…**, **Duplicate** and **Delete**: see [Move, duplicate and convert paragraphs in the app](/en/help/app/move-duplicate-and-convert-paragraphs).

## How does the app know which sentence a card comes from?

There is no saved link. The app reasons on the page like this: a card belongs to the paragraph immediately before it, and the highlighted sentence is the spot where the answer's text appears in that paragraph. If the same sentence appears more than once, the one you picked when you created the card applies (this information stays only on the phone).

When the card is created, the highlighter stroke is drawn on the sentence. If the card comes from **+** or from **New card**, it ends up at the end of the notebook and usually has no highlighted sentence.

## How do I find a card's paragraph during review?

During review, **See in the note** appears under the card. Tap it: a sheet opens with the heading "From your note" and the paragraph with the highlighted sentence. Close the sheet and carry on rating where you left off. The button only appears for cards whose paragraph the app can find.

## What happens next

If you edit the paragraph or the answer and the two texts no longer match, the card stays but the highlight disappears and **See in the note** doesn't appear. The same happens if you move the paragraph and the card ends up under another one: cards don't follow the paragraph they came from, as explained in [Move, duplicate and convert paragraphs in the app](/en/help/app/move-duplicate-and-convert-paragraphs).

## Frequently asked questions

### Why doesn't a card have a highlighted sentence?

Because it doesn't come from a sentence (for example you created it with **+**), because there is no paragraph before the card, or because the answer's text no longer appears in the paragraph that precedes it.

### How do I find a specific card in a large notebook?

Use search: tapping a card among the results opens the notebook already on the **Cards** view. See [How to search notebooks, notes and cards in the app](/en/help/app/search-in-the-app).

### Does editing a card during review also change the rating?

No. The **Edit card** pencil only changes the text; scheduling and ratings stay as they were.

### Can I see cards without a connection?

Yes: they are stored on your phone, so you can see and edit them even offline.
