# Save your progress with email, Google or Apple

Applies to: Android and iPhone app · Last updated: 2026-10-30

In the Keeplet app for Android and iPhone you save your progress by creating an account with email, with Google or (on iPhone only) with Apple: from **Profile** tap **Save your progress** and choose a method. Notebooks, notes and cards on your phone are uploaded to your account; reviews you've already done, however, are not carried over and your cards start again as new.

## Before you start

- You need an internet connection: creating the account and signing in don't work offline ("You need a connection to continue.").
- If you already have a Keeplet account (for example from the website), follow the section "I already have an account: how do I sign in?" below.
- The **Create account with Google** and **Create account with Apple** options depend on the version of the app you're using. If a method isn't available, the app tells you ("Signing in with Google isn't available in this version yet. Use email.") and you can use email.

## Steps

1. Open the **Profile** tab. If you don't have an account, at the top you read "You're using Keeplet without an account".
2. Tap **Save your progress**. The same screen also opens from the invitation the app shows you once, or from the **Save** button on the **Today** screen.
3. Choose a method: **Create account with Google**, **Create account with Apple** (only on iPhone) or **Create account with email**.
4. With email, fill in **Name**, **Email** and **Password** (at least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number: the rule is the same as on the website, and the app reminds you of it under the field), then tap **Create account**.
5. Wait for the message "Saving your notes and cards…". When "All saved." appears it's done and you return to the **Today** screen.

If the network drops halfway, you see "Account ready. I'll save the rest as soon as I can.": the account exists and the upload resumes by itself at the next sync, without creating duplicates.

## What happens to the data on my phone?

| Data | After saving |
|---|---|
| Notebooks, notes and cards | Uploaded to your account. The phone's notebooks are added to those on the account |
| Reviews already done (history, intervals, day streak) | Not carried over: cards start again as new |
| Daily goal, reminder, theme | Stay on the phone |

The app warns you before saving: "Reviews done so far aren't carried over: your cards start again as new." Reviews you do after creating the account are instead saved and synced.

## I already have an account: how do I sign in?

On the **Save your progress** screen tap **Already have an account? Sign in**, then choose **Sign in with Google**, **Sign in with Apple** or **Sign in with email**. The notebooks on this phone are added to your account and you get back those already saved, even if you created them on the website. If you don't remember your password, on the email sign-in screen tap **Forgot your password?** and then **Send the link**.

## What happens next

In **Profile** you see the account's name or email and the **Saving** row: "All saved" or "N changes to send" if something is waiting to be uploaded. From then on every card you create and every rating is sent to the server automatically, even if you reviewed offline. You can use the same account on the Keeplet website: notebooks and cards are the same.

If you tap **Sign out**, notebooks, notes and cards are removed from this phone and you get them back by signing in again; daily goal, reminder and theme stay. If there are changes not yet sent, the app tells you and asks whether you want to sign out anyway.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I put it off and save later?

Yes. Tap **Not now**: the automatic invitation appears only once, but **Save your progress** in **Profile** is always available. Until you save, your data exists only on this phone: if you lose it or uninstall the app, it can't be recovered.

### Why do my cards start again as new?

When guest data is uploaded, the review values (next review date, interval, ease factor, number of reviews) are reset. This is the app's current behavior. After saving, scheduling resumes as for a card never reviewed: learn how in [The SM-2 algorithm in Keeplet](/en/help/concepts/sm2-algorithm-in-keeplet).

### What happens if I choose an email that's already registered?

The app replies "An account with this email already exists. Try signing in." Tap **Already have an account? Sign in** and enter your password.

### Why doesn't the app accept my password?

The password must have at least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number. If it does not, under the **Password** field you see "At least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number" and the account is not created. If you already have an account with a simpler password chosen in the past, you can still sign in without changing it.

### Can I save my progress with Apple on Android?

No: **Create account with Apple** only appears on iPhone. On Android use email or Google.

### How do I delete the account later?

In **Profile**, **Account** section, tap **Delete account** and confirm with **Delete forever**: the account, notebooks, notes and cards are deleted, on the website too. It can't be undone.
