# Keeplet app reminder not arriving: what to check

Applies to: Android and iPhone app · Last updated: 2026-10-29

If the reminder from the Keeplet app for Android and iPhone doesn't arrive, in most cases one of these things is not right: the **Review reminder** switch, the phone's notification permission, the cards due at the chosen time, or Android's battery saver. Check them in the order below.

## Before you start

The reminder is a local notification, scheduled on your phone by the app: it doesn't go through the server and doesn't need an account. That is why it only depends on your phone's settings and on how you have used the app.

## Steps to check

1. **Is the switch on?** Open the **Profile**. In the **Reminder** section, the **Review reminder** row must have its switch on, with the **Time** row below it. If you read **To set up**, you haven't decided yet: turn it on.
2. **Does the phone allow Keeplet notifications?** If you see "Notifications are turned off for Keeplet. You can turn them on in your phone settings.", tap **Open settings**, turn on notifications for Keeplet and then turn the switch on again. If the permission is removed later, the app notices and turns the switch off by itself.
3. **On Android, check the channel.** In Keeplet's notification settings, the **Review reminders** channel must be on: if you turned it off, notifications don't appear.
4. **Do you have cards to review at that time?** Check in **Today**: the reminder only goes off on days when, at the chosen time, at least one card is due.
5. **Have you already finished for today?** If you reached your daily goal or reviewed everything, no notification arrives for today. It comes back by itself tomorrow.
6. **Has today's time already passed?** If you turn on the reminder for 7:30 PM and it is 8:00 PM, the first alert will be tomorrow.
7. **Have you opened the app recently?** The app schedules reminders for the next 7 days and updates them every time you open it. If you don't open it for more than a week, the reminders run out: reopen it to schedule them again.

## What if the reminder arrives, but late or at odd times?

- **On Android the time can slip by a few minutes**: the app doesn't ask for the permission for exact alarms. If the phone doesn't already grant it, the app uses an approximate alarm, which the system may shift slightly to save battery.
- **Battery saver.** Some Android phones limit background apps and delay or block scheduled notifications. In the Keeplet app's battery settings choose the option that removes restrictions (the name varies by brand, for example "Unrestricted" or "Don't optimize").
- **Time zone.** The reminder follows your phone's local time, calculated when the app schedules the alerts. If you change time zone, open the app: it recalculates them.
- **Do Not Disturb or Focus mode.** On Android and iPhone these modes can hide or silence the notification: check whether Keeplet is among the allowed apps.

## What if the number of cards in the notification doesn't match?

The text says "You have N cards to review. About M minutes." and N is calculated when the app schedules the alert, with the same rule as the **Today** screen, so it respects your daily goal. When you open the app the alert is recalculated.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the reminder work with the app closed?

Yes: the notification is scheduled in the phone and arrives even if the app is closed. After a restart, Android restores the reminders already scheduled.

### Why is there no sound or banner?

It depends on your phone's notification settings for Keeplet (banner, sound, lock screen). Check them in the system settings, opening them with **Open settings** if it appears.

### Is it the same as the bell on Today?

No. The **Notifications** bell is a list of service alerts, visible only with an account (see [The Keeplet app notification center](/en/help/app/notification-center)). The reminder is the phone notification, which doesn't depend on the server.

### Does the app's reminder also arrive on the website, or the other way around?

No. The website and the app have separate reminders: for the website's see [Email reminders and push notifications](/en/help/web/email-reminders-and-push-notifications).
