# Move, duplicate and convert paragraphs in the app

Applies to: Android and iPhone app · Last updated: 2026-10-29

In the Keeplet app for Android and iPhone every paragraph has a handle on the left (six dots): tap it to open the actions sheet and edit, select, move, duplicate, convert or delete that paragraph. Press and hold the handle instead to drag the paragraph to another position.

## Before you start

The actions are in the **Notes** view of a notebook. On the page, notes and cards are all "blocks": paragraphs have the **Paragraph actions** handle, cards have **Card actions** and an almost identical sheet. It all works without an account and without a connection.

## Steps

1. Open the notebook from the **Notebooks** tab.
2. Tap the handle to the left of the paragraph.
3. In the sheet, choose the action.

## What does each action do?

| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| **Edit** | Opens **Edit paragraph**, the same sheet that opens when you tap the text |
| **Turn into card** | **Create card** opens with the paragraph's text as the question: write the **Answer** and tap **Save**. The card takes the paragraph's place |
| **Select** | Starts selecting multiple blocks (see below) |
| **Move up** / **Move down** | Moves it one place. They only appear if the paragraph can move in that direction |
| **Move to another notebook…** | Takes the paragraph, together with the cards that follow it, to the end of another notebook |
| **Turn into heading** / **Turn into text** | Adds or removes the leading `# `. Paragraphs only |
| **Duplicate** | Creates a copy below the paragraph (and below the cards that follow it) |
| **Delete** | Asks "Delete this paragraph?" and, if you confirm, deletes it. The cards created from that paragraph stay |

For a card, the sheet has **Turn into note** instead of **Turn into card**: the card becomes a paragraph with the question and, after a blank line, the answer. The card is deleted, along with its review progress. If the resulting text is longer than 1000 characters, "At most 1000 characters" appears and nothing changes.

## How do I drag a paragraph?

Press and hold the handle until the block dims, then drag. A preview follows your finger and a line shows where the paragraph will land; near the edges the page scrolls by itself. Lift your finger to drop it. If you would rather not drag, use **Move up** and **Move down**.

## How do I move several paragraphs together?

1. Tap the handle and choose **Select**. The paragraph is already selected and "1 selected" appears at the top with **Cancel**.
2. Tap the other blocks, paragraphs or cards, to select or deselect them.
3. At the bottom, tap **Move** or **Delete**.
4. With **Move**, choose the destination notebook in the **Move to another notebook** sheet. With **Delete**, confirm "Delete 3 items?".

To leave selection mode, tap **Cancel** or use the back gesture. In the list of destination notebooks, the ones that are already full are disabled and say "Notebook full: 250 items". If you have no other notebooks you read "You don't have any other notebooks. Create one from the notebooks list." After the move, a message confirms it, for example "3 items moved to "History"" (the number includes the cards that follow the selected paragraphs). Items go to the end of the destination notebook, in the same order.

## What happens to the cards when I move a paragraph?

With **Move to another notebook…** (or with **Select** and **Move**) the paragraph takes along the cards that follow it: the sentence stays highlighted and **See in the note** keeps working. If you choose only a card, it moves by itself. With **Move up**, **Move down** and dragging, on the other hand, each item moves on its own: cards created from a sentence stay where they are and follow the paragraph in front of them; if that is no longer the original one, the sentence stops being highlighted and **See in the note** no longer appears in review. Moved cards keep their review state.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I duplicate a paragraph together with its cards?

You can't: **Duplicate** copies only the item you chose. Duplicated cards start again as new and have no rating.

### Why don't I see Move up?

Because the paragraph is already the first in the notebook (and **Move down** is missing if it is the last). This applies to items in general, cards included.

### Why does it say the notebook is full?

A notebook holds at most 250 items, notes and cards together. **Duplicate**, moving and also **Turn into card** stop with "A notebook can hold at most 250 items, notes and cards together." For details see [App limits](/en/help/app/app-limits).

### Can I undo a deletion?

No: after you confirm, the paragraph or card is deleted. If you have an account, the deletion reaches the server at the next sync.
